Kythe (a sounding portrait) (3 min. 13 sec.),  first in a series of “sounding portraits,” presents poet Kythe Heller singing a Macedonian song (originally as part of a speaking portrait session mainly for “poetry is”). Kythe reports that she refused to learn the meaning of the words so as not to reduce the direct power of the song. Recorded on August 8th, 2010 in Barrytown, New York.
